Here is a testimonial from satisfied a BG Fit customer.
“I’ve been a cycling enthusiast for almost half of my life and have ridden a lot of different bikes. Most of them have been short travel xc rigs and road bikes that I have spent hours and hours training and racing on. For the first few years I set up the bikes using various recommendations, general guidelines, and basic equations to get my position set right. After a few years doing this I thought it might be time to get a second opinion and had a local shop ‘fit’ me. After a few more years I took the advice of some friends that raced as pros. My flexibility was always pretty good and I didn’t really suffer on rides, but after talking to Cheryl at Café in Kamloops I thought it might be time to actually see if my setup was one that would really help me cycle in more comfort. I knew that she had recently been through a specialized BG fit class and thought that she might have some tips to help me find a better position. At the beginning of the season we went through two fit sessions that took around an hour each. Cheryl was wonderful to deal with. She went over a lot of things that I didn’t think would really make a difference. I’d never measured my knee angle, taken video of my knees to see how they were tracking through my pedal stroke, looked at my side profile on the bike, or really questioned if I was truly comfortable on the bike before meeting with Cheryl. She lowered my seat, recommended insoles with better arch support, shortened the stem length and moved the saddle forward. I would never have thought that I would need to change as many measurements on my bikes, but am not surprised that the recommended changes have improved my cycling. I can’t recommend Cheryl enough. She asked questions about my riding style and preferences and really listened to my responses. Whether new to cycling or a veteran in the sport I think that a BG fit with Cheryl is a must. If you are more comfortable on your bike you’ll ride more and suffer fewer problems in your neck, back, arms and legs. Setting up a bike by feel just doesn’t make any sense when someone like Cheryl is available to help fit people properly on their bikes.”

As an avid recreational mountain biker, I have embraced the sport as a great way to stay healthy, have some fun and enjoy the outdoors. Over the last couple of seasons, I have been riding progressively more and more however, it didn’t feel that I was improving in terms of strength and endurance.
On longer days I often found that my knees, feet and hips were quite sore. Some days I didn’t want to ride as the pain was preventing me from getting out. It become a source of frustration for me as I enjoy riding so much but was starting to wonder if it was a sport I should continue with.
Enter Cheryl at the Bicycle Café! Upon taking delivery of a recently purchased cross country bike, Cheryl recommended that she give me a proper fitting session using the techniques she’d learned from her training with the Specialized Body Geometry Fitting program.
Over the course of a couple hours, Cheryl ran me through a series of tests which looked at my overall fitness & flexibility and bike setup. I never realized how a few minor changes in setup could affect my strength and endurance – and most importantly – comfort while riding. Cheryl recommended I try different insoles to help with foot pronation which helped my knee alignment and pedal stroke. A few minor modifications to cleat position, saddle position and height and I was on my way to being a better cyclist. It was amazing how different it felt once I was setup ‘Right’ on my bike. I am now enjoying longer rides and feel I have much more power which in turn – has made me a better rider.
If you are interested in being a better rider and enjoying your riding more, I strongly recommend that you discuss a fitting session with Cheryl at the Bicycle Café. Her professional approach and genuine interest in her customers – make her an ideal resource to enable us to enjoy our favorite sport that much more.
